I was the parent volunteer/editor for the 5th & 6th grade newspaper:
We'd meet weekly to learn about journalism and write up articles. Then they'd help edit and I'd lay it all out for print.
I designed this totally worthless currency in a logo app to distribute to them whenever they said something funny in the meetings. I also made them fake press badges:
