Little House on the Prairie Diorama & Prairie Fire
We had been reading the Little House on the Prairie Books in Language Arts and the girls wanted to do a diorama as their book project. Kenton took it to the next level by integrating Science into the project - by teaching us how to simulate the prairie fire scene in the book!
First the girls laid out their diorama plans and figured out all the supplies they need. We went to the park to gather sticks and stones. And then they made all the book characters out of Sculpey:
Next, log cabin construction. Luckily no fingers were lost.
And for the best part. WATCHING IT BURN.
Just kidding. Kenton taught them how to create a furrow and backfire, just like in the book.

If they did it right, they'd get an A.
If they did it wrong, all their hard work would be turned into ash,
MWHAHAHA.

This is why homeschooling is way more fun than public school.
Sadly... IT WORKED. And the cabins lived to see another day... for now.
