Piñatas
The girls really wanted to make a going-away piñata for their favorite music teacher who was leaving. When I told them piñata was actually fairly straightforward, they were mind blown.
All they needed was tissue paper, cardboard, and tape.
First they shaped their pinata (a music note) with cardboard. Then they cut fringes into a bunch of tissue paper and attached it in alternating, layered rows.
The success and ease of this project inspired the girls to make a piñata at every occasion possible that year.

A popcorn piñata for Eevee's birthday, a Kirby piñata for Ollie's birthday, a cake piñata for Maria's birthday, and a Captain America shield piñata for Francis' birthday.
